I'm trying to be more self sufficient and learn to change/fix my Colorado on my own. I need to change my front brakes and rotors in my 2006 4WD 5 Cylinder Colorado, and need advice on how to do it efficiently.

jack the truck up
remove tires
loosen two bolts on the back of the caliper
slide caliper off - do not let hang
compress pistons in caliper *
remove old pads
inspect rotor
install new pads as prescribed
place caliper back on
re-torque caliper bolts
replace tires
lower truck

*Find something that can compress the pistons back into the caliper to allow clearance for the new pads. I used a metal turning clamp along with a small block. Turned it very slowly forcing the fluid out of the caliper and back up into the reservoir. This will eliminate the need to bleed the brakes. Also, DO IT VERY SLOWLY so you don't blow the line.
