Default How to install alpine ktp-445u??

So got a question,

I installed 4 new speakers in my truck

2 pioneers 1684r's in front
2 sonys 1627's in rear

.. sounds great and only like $70 for amazing speaker replacement, if anyone care to venture in doing so.. and rather easy..

but since the factory HU is crap it doesnt sound as good as i want, so i called best buy and asked about running another amp just to power the speakers and the install tech said dont do that (add more wires and such just get this new item "alpine ktp-445u")

the alpine ktp-445u is a universal power pack to bost the rms of exsisting radio aftermarket/factory.

So i bought it last night and its like $160ish but its on the same price line as a decent amp.

So my question has anyone ever installed one of these or knows how to install it, as the instructions were gibberish and it's suppose to be "plug-n-play" but the instructions say to cut wires?? As the tech from best buy just heard about it and hasnt installed one yet so im kinda doing this solo..

Any help be awesome...
Thank you

When they say "plug and play", that usually only means if you purchase the correct wiring harness. If you don't purchase that, then you do have to do some cutting and splicing of wiring.

It's pretty simple, though, the new headunit should come with a wiring diagram for the harness on it. Here's a how to on replacing a headunit when purchasing the correct wiring harness adapter, which is also listed in the how to.

If you don't want to buy the right harness, you can find wiring schematics for some of the earlier trucks here. I'd be shocked if the radio wiring has changed, so this will probably tell you what each wire on the truck harness side is so that you can properly connect them to the harness that came with your new headunit.

[EDIT]
Alright, after re-reading the original post, I don't think my previous info is likely to be helpful, I thought the Alpine ktp-445u was a new headunit...
[/EDIT]

Yeah I needed the GM harness adapter or cut and splice it into the factory wiring but I opted to get a new HU.

I got the kenwood ddx319, its just a DVD but makes speakers ad my sub slot clearer, I'll throw up pics tomorrow.

Install was pretty simple too, the bracket it came with fit perfectly and the GM wire harness worked perfect, just some of the connections were loose so I had to manually untie and recrimp, but still didn't take long.

Getting off the HU bezel/dash part took forever lol

Thanks for the help and input.
