That's probably why the ones I drove didn't feel very punchy.
The A4 only has a 3.05:1 first gear.
The M5 has a 3.75:1 first gear. WAY more torque at the rear wheels.
Couple the M5 with the 3.73:1 rear end, and it should be pretty torque-y.
I drove A4, 3:42:1 twins.
