I think that the BS flag needs to come out...... It just doesn't make since. Why would they give the Colorado over 300 hp, when the silverado is only sitting at 315 and 365 w/ the 6.0L. Unless they're gonna up the horsepower on the Silverado as well...... I guess i'll join the club of," I'll believe it when I see it."

What are the chances of GM putting a nice 6spd stick with the 5.3 V-8?

I can only hope.

I guess someone finally listened. Hopefully they will upgrade the brakes while they are at it. Disappointing that it is Automatic only, but I guess it is to be expected.

Congrats to all!

No chance for a stick...I'm keeping my I-5...and why would they ditch the ZQ8 option on all other models but offer it with the V8?

Below-Zero, the Alpha engine in the H3 is rated at 295 ponies. That is with the very restrictive flow that is the result of many bends in the exhaust system. Word has it that the less-restrictive exhaust routing on the GMT 355's will garner an additional 15 horses, thus the 310 hp rating. Makes sense.

295-horsepower, or even 310...

Doesn't an LSx swap give up a lot more HP? I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head right now. If it does, I am half tempted to just keep my truck and do the swap so 1. I have more power than the new V8s and 2. to be different haha..

Interesting though that this is coming up again. I read the post and thought "Holy Old Thread Batman!" If this does actually happen, it will definately be a good sales boost for GM. That is one of the biggest complaints most people have about the truck. Nice find guys!

Looks like patience will pay off if the General does come through.

A great day for the GMT 355's, and a great day for ColoradoCanyonFans Forum and Members!

depends what motor you get...an LS2 has 400 hp 400 lb-ft...but they are also a ton of money right now.

Thanks for the quick reply..

Those numbers sound right now that I can see em haha. They are a lot of money.. I think I read it can be done for about $10k if I am not mistaken, maybe its closer to 15...

Still, say I trade in my truck for an 08. I know that I won't get much for it when that time comes even if I keep everything I have done to it on there. I would bet that I would still owe more than $15k if I were to buy a new truck. If not, I would run the bill up buying everything again to customize it like I always do..

I am still leaning toward the LSx swap, but adding this option is a big plus for the Colorado/Canyon...

Right now a 3.7 Litre Crew Cab's power-to-weight ratio is 15.86 lbs. for every 1 horsepower. With the 5.3, it will improve to 12.35 lbs for every 1 horsepower! We're definitely looking at a much better performing truck. 0 to 60 times, and 1/4 mile times will decrease while towing capacities increase substantially!
