CFans Exclusive: V8 Power For The Colorado/Canyon

Yes folks, The Nation's #1 Colorado/Canyon Forum would like to share some groundbreaking news with you!

Preliminary reports from our inside sources have concluded that a V8 option will be available in the Colorado and Canyon pickups for the 2008 model year!

Yes folks, you've heard it first - right here at ColoradoFans.com!

Here's the news we received as of Wednesday, June 6th. If all goes according to plan, the LH8 5.3 Litre V8 will be available in both extended cab and crew cab models sometime in January or February of 2008. Looks like the GMT 355's are going to have a 2008 1/2 model. This powertrain option will only be available in an automatic, but who cares......it is supposedly putting out the numbers as follows:

Horespower: 310 bhp
Torque: 345 ft/lbs.

However, information on the transmission type is still in question.

In addition, the ZQ8 option will again be available with this combination, but the Xtreme model has been shelved for the time being. Does this elude to a possible Colorado SS in our future!?

We will provide more information on this subject as we receive it!

This engine option should put our trucks right at the top of the mid-size class performance category! Stay Tuned! :D

That would depend on how PnP friendly the PCM/BCM between the in-line and V8 will be.

*edit* Someone should call MagnaCharger and tell them to get crackin!!!

I'll believe it when I see it hit the dealers.

And the bastages didn't include regular cabs!

Now, if they would only make a 6.5' bed option for the crew cab in a Z71 package.

This is some interesting news. I just wonder if they are going to make any body or trim changes to the new ZQ8's once they are out. I rather like the look of my Xtreme personally.

I am afraid I will have to wait and see if they change the look any. If they don't, then I will most likely buy a new Camaro.

Sab, I assume that the source is our GM contact. I also assume you are not under NDA since you posted it. :P
