I've never really thought the 355 was that great of a looking truck but bought it anyways. I think my old truck, the 03 S10 ZR2 looks 5 times better than a 355. I especially hate the weird "boomerang" looking indents on the front fenders and sides of the box..
But the Colorado brought a lot to the table. For once I don't have the hump in the floorpan for the transfer case, that was a weird S10 thing. I miss the 4.3 Vortec V6, but the 3.5 has proven itself to be dependable. Wish GM would have put the 4.2 Atlas in the Colorado, no one would have cared if they made a V8 Colorado if they had! I think the new one will be an improvement in looks, anything would be an improvement. |

The red "fake" micro truck is called Chevrolet Tornado in my country, is made by Opel in brazil and rebadged as chevrolet. Think about what you will be really buying when getting the new 2013...
![]() At the end its just matter of personal preferences.

I don't disagree that it would've been nice to have the 4.2L in the Colorado, but I'll still take my 3.5L over the 4.3L any day of the week. |

The 4.2 inline 6 would not have fit into the Colorado, it is too long for the short engine compartment. the 5.3 8 fit's fine though. I'm surprised they did not offer the 5.3 from day one in 2004, but that's gm for you.
I thought the 2 gen S10's and Sonoma were ugly, I had a 1997 Sonoma with the 4.3 and never really liked that truck. Had all kinds of trouble with it too. The 4.3 had some good low end torque, but as it revv'd would not pick up steam like the 3.5's and 3.7's do.

I still like the early 90s S-10. A small truck looks fine in a simple, purposeful boxy shape. It doesn't need to look intimidating. I never cared for the interior of that generation though.
My yard guy still uses an early 90s S-10 with close to 200K on it. He likes it just fine and uses it to tow the mowing equipment around town. Last edited by MZT; 06-30-2012 at 08:51 AM. |
