My take is that it isn't a ZR2 but a refresh they are keeping under wraps and hopefully the testing is all about slipping the LGX engine and 8 speed in to it. Sign me up! Just keep the extended cab in the lineup.

I'm actually disappointed, they left off the front air dam off on purpose, which means this board will miss the 90+ pages in multiple threads on how to remove it.

Not to sound dumb. WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT AN 8 SPEED? Serious question. I don't like the 6 and would rather go the other direction with a 5. MPG?????

Good question. The Corvette experience with that 8 speed hasn't been 100% positive.

I'll give you my 4 speed in my silverado

I"m 100% positive anything is better than that.
I like staying in the power band not hearing a motor scream as it winds out from gear to gear.

BRING ON THE 8 AND 10 SPEEDS

oh and that dead spot at 40 MPH i got in the 5 speed diesel jeep ... it sucks too

The "caught testing" pic makes a lot more sense that it is a different engine and trans combo, the ZR2 should just be a trim and content package, no reason they'd need to be out testing it, just like say a Trail Boss or Denali. But even though the powertrain is already in some Cadillacs, to put it in a truck the EPA I am sure would make them do a lot of testing before releasing it. As far as the disguise, I again, by looking at the pic, assume it is a refresh on the grille they don't want people to see yet, or the ZR2 really got dumbed down alot from the prototype they were showing as I don't see a lot of the styling it had up front. LOVE those flares, too.

I thought the spare was supposed to go in the bed, again maybe it is a ZR2 but they strayed a lot.
What is under the rocker panels, are the like a guard or is that a drop-down step?

just thought, with the air dam removed, that could open up a can of worms, could affect aerodynamics enough that it would require testing. Rather doubt they would jump through a lot of hoops for the ZR2 but maybe. Maybe combination of engine and no air dam for the ZR2??

Caught Testing title cracks me up. Looks more like a lame photo shoot. Anyway... I am not excited about it, I can wait to see the final product.

It obviously has the hood (or something similar) to the one shown on the concept truck. I wonder what else lies under that nose masking?

The bar under the rocker is a rockrail. It protects the rocker from rocks and such while offroading. I see them on Jeeps more than anything else.

Think I will just order the cool hood and fender flares.
I doubt the production bumper will be as cool as the concept.

I couldn't wait for GM so I already took care of the suspension and tires myself.
