New guy from sunny Savannah, GA

Great to be here guys. After driving by and seeing this "Banana yellow" truck at a used car lot for a few months, and thinking how silly it looked, It started growing on me, and I went in and made an offer and now I'm the proud owner of a 2004 Colorado truck! In the middle of the bowtie on the grill, the previous owner painted a smiley face! My 3 year old granddaughter saw that and now every time she sees my truck she says: "There's Pop's Happy Truck!".
So, I drive a happy truck! So far, I've been happy to have it.
I'm an old guy. My first job was working at a "service station". Yeah, where you pumped peoples gas for them and cleaned their windshield and checked under their hood. You know, free car wash with fill up and when you drove it, it went "ding ding"!
I've been turning wrenches ever since. Not as a way to earn a living anymore, but just for fun and to save money on repairs. I remember the days of carbs and points, but I'm enjoying these days of fuel injection and engine codes.
Great to be here and looking forward to learning a lot and sharing a little now and then too.

I had a blast! I was 15 and rode my bicycle to work! I remember doing my first oil change at the station. over 40 years later I still have a couple of my uniform shirts! Did you ever use a SUN machine for doing tune-ups? Those were great!

Welcome Hal. Your service station story brings back the same memories for me as well. Nowadays people would probably get mad if you took the time to raise your hood at a station. I love Savannah, been there once. I still don't know why I can't carry a gun in a cemetery when everyone there is already dead but, rules are rules.

I worked just pumping gas in Zoo Jersey, where it is illegal to pump your own gas. I did it as a second job, after normal hours, so the mechanic bays were closed, but did flat repairs. My fathers best friend had a speed shop, and got use of a Sun distributor machine when needed, but he was the guru of it.

Welcome! I worked in a couple of actual "Service" stations when I was younger myself. One of them still has a full service island and will clean your windshield and check your oil for you while they fill your tank. Been turning wrenches in some form ever since as well. Enjoy the new truck and let me know if there is anything I can do for you. I am a brand new sponsoring vendor on the forum and am eager to help in any way that I can.
