Problem with chrome on 18" factory wheels

The chrome on my 2012 Canyon 18" optional chrome wheels is peeling. The paint on the back side of the wheels is also bubbling. GM replaced two when the truck was under warranty but these two are also going bad. I would have been happy with the standard 17" wheels but I got talked into these wheels because they were only a $200 add to the price of the truck. Can these wheels be restored? If so, does anybody have experience with doing that? If it's too expensive I will probably just look for a set of stock 17" at bone yards. I'm due for tires shortly so I appreciate any input anyone can provide.
