How To: Add a GM Fog Light Package

Does anyone out there know if GM has created a package deal yet to add the Fog lights for a Z85 as an Accessory?

I want to the look of the factory, not the aftermarket stuff.

It would have to include both lights, the shield/mount, wiring, Replacement head lamp switch.

Anyone working for a dealership that can check this out, please do. Perhaps even price it out to see what it would cost part by part.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

That was my main beef with the options when I bought mine. I want the stock lights and dashboard switch. (not too much to ask, is it? )

the package may get a bit pricey. the fog light switch is just like the cargo light button and would possibly require the purchase of the entire panel (headlight, cargo, dimmer) unless you would just have to (cringe) drill a hole to put the switch in. its not like the panel would be that expensive but it would add just that much more to the price

You would have to purchase the entire switch as far as I can see. That may run about $70-$130.

Then, the bulb casings, $30-$50/each, the dam, $90, the bulbs, $17/each, the harnesses, $15/each, the wires from the harness to the light switch, $45. It might very well get pricey.

I'm just estimating based on the crap I've seen GM pull in the past.

I don't remember if you could pop out the plastic part of the dam where the fogs would be. You would think you could

I looked and it definitely needs to be cut. I have a dremel tool that will work well.

Yeah, I'm hoping all that's involved is cutting the dam, mounting the lights and swapping out the switch. My main concern is the wiring from the dam to the dashboard.

I checked the Fusebox already has a fuse in the position it says is for Fog lights. Hard to tell if the wiring harness is complete to the dash switch or not.

You would think they would only make 1 harness so they didn't have a variation and more parts.

So, if I understand this, you couldn't order the fog lights as an option on a Colorado Z85? Is that correct?

Correct, unless you have the Colored Front Appearance package (B4U) I like chrome!

It's one of the stupid limits.

I've asked a few places and am waiting on responses.

My thoughts exactly! Plus with all the bugs here in Florida, body colored bumpers and grills take a tremendous pounding.

Ok, I'll use this post to start a parts list
Quanity - Part - Description

+ 2 - $40.50 Each - 15120887 - Lamp Front Fog, Includes Bracket Part# 16531755, bolt, nut, lamp, cap., 9045 - Bulb)
+ 1 - $27 - 15187089 (AC D1505H) - Headlight Switch Module with Fog

+ 2 - $ - AC PT168 - Bulb connector plug (Same as Hi Beam Light Connector)
+ 1 - $ - ????????? - Front Wiring Harness to Fuse Panel
(add a 20 gauge hot wire and 20 gauge negative wire to each light)
+ 3 - $ - Pull to seat wire ends to be inserted in the fuse panel underside Connector C1
pins:
C2 - Left Ground, D2 - Right Ground, & E2 - Hot Wire

I've noticed that in the fuse panel there is a fuse in #9, and a relay in #52. I ohmed out the fuse to the relay and the fuse goes to the relay and makes that hot. So the other wires to the relay are the headlights , the wire to the switch and the wire to the fog lamps. I will ohm out from the switch to the fuse panel relay #52 later.

I hope that the wiring harness to the dash is complete. For the sake of this list we will assume that to be true for now.

Can someone that has them trace the wire from the fog light and tell me if they they go back to the fuse panel or into the headlight wiring harness.

Also if that wiring harness has an 8 digit part number. Check for other part numbers to see what all we would need.

there is one violet and one black wire that run to the fog lights and they come out of the headlight/marker light wire harness on each side at the same location that all other headlight/marker light wires come out of the harness

Thanks, any numbers on the harness?

Also can you confirm part numbers on the Fog light assembly
I verifed the numbers on the fog lamp assembly with one at the dealer and updated the above post.
I could not open the hood as they are closed and may not like me digging around.

I just looked at mine. There is a tag on the main wiring harness coming toward the front of the truck out of the Fuse Box under the hood.

The wiring bundle does all the front lights, a/c, Horn, & air bag sensors.
My part # is 1511098. So if you see that large white tag, see if that is the same part#.

Also just crawled under the dash. The wiring harness part number on the bundle of wires that plug into light switch module is 15200558.

Simplified Summary:

Please Verify that these are the same part numbers on a truck with Fog Lights.

1. Front wiring harness part number - 1511098
(Tag located near fuse panel on bundle of wires to radiator support.)

2. Light switch wiring harness part number - 15200558
(Tag located under dash on bundle of wires to switch.)

This will help tremendously.

As I suspected on the front harness. I did expect it to be wired into the light switch. Dang! Oh Wait, Someone with an Ext. Cab. with Fog lights check theres also. Perhaps the wiring harness is different in the crew cab at the light switch.
I'd sooner only have to wire to the fuse panel.

I may just get the fog light assemlies and use an inline fuse with a nice switch. That will be the next thing to look at. I haven't given up on this just yet though. I may wait for a while. I want something before the Fall.
