Wife's 2005 Z71 gets a new lease on life.

A few weeks ago "actually the day after Mother's Day" my wife and I took a ride out to our local Toyota dealership and ended up finding a very clean looking 2005 Z71 LS.
After purchasing this wonderful vehicle almost immediately after signing the as / is paperwork.
The check engine light popped on, on the ride home. I know most people would have turned right around and told them right where to stick this truck.
But my wife and I decided to take the road less traveled.
Yes, the check engine light was the dreaded P-300 code and yes, it was the cylinder head. And, Yes the dealership will hear about this. Not so much about the engine but more the fuel pressure regulator that was leaking externally. But that's a whole other story.
This post is really about a little first-generation Colorado who started it's first day of it's a new life today.
The heart transplant a Jasper Remanufactured Atlas / Vortech Five Cylinder Engine, new pumps, new hoses and belts, new axle seals, new differential seals, all fresh fluids, zone off-road 2 inch suspension lift with add a leaf rear, and Ranchos all-around, and finished off with a wheel alignment.
Next I plan to get back to the interior. New Seats are on the way. The door speakers have all been changed to Rockford Fosgate punches. The pioneer navigation head unit, Brutus 1100 Watt amplifier, and twin 10 inch sub woofers in the custom box will all be installed soon.
I would like to thank too pretty awesome moderators of this group forum “08Canyon” & “GregDAP” for posting so many awesome threads and answering so many questions. Reading their posts had been most helpful though this whole ordeal.
Here are some pictures of the truck and it's first day home…

Your welcome. Truck is looking good. Hope you have better luck with Jasper then my friend did. He went through 3 of their engines in a few months. They were all replaced under warranty and this last one seems to be working.

Good looking trucks. And nice to hear some good things about my minions instead of the bad things They both do a great job here in this under appreciated position.

fredl11, we picked it up at 130,000. Do you have the awful Grey, Heated, Leather Power Seats too?

GregDAP, me too. This has been a crazy ride. I went with Jasper & Trenton Motor-Works because of their warranty and turn-around time. She's breaking it in easy and it passed NJ state inspection this morning "Fingers Crossed" They want us to bring it back for a check up at 1000 miles.

Her Corbeau Moab seats came in this week so I put the driver side in this afternoon. "What A Pain"! The carpet had to be trimmed for the brackets to fit flush and line up the mounting bolt holes. Really Nice Seat! Feels nice to sit in. But still trying to figure out the stock harness to pull power for the seat heaters...

Those look pretty sweet. Might I ask what they cost and, did you do both fronts or just hers?

For the seat heat wiring. The power for the control and the heater circuits comes through the OEM 7 pin (6 wire connector). Power for the switch is pin A which is the brown wire. Power for the heaters is pin D which is the orange wire at the end of the same row of pins.

Power for the seat heaters comes through the 20A HTD/SEAT fuse. Power for the switch comes through the 10A A/C fuse.

PM sent.

Looks great, how much did the bumper run if you don't mind me asking? You planning on doing the rear also?

My '05 Z71 Crew Cab has 160,000 miles.

$1,500.00 to my door. It was $2,400.00 if i ordered both Front & Back Bumpers.
Next year I'll get the back bumper for her.

I love you guys that swap out the factory bumpers. Not that I'd ever do such a wild and crazy thing.
