Default PF=61E

Anybody note the change in AC/Delco oil filters?

The PF-61E has the threads on an insert pressed onto the baseplate rather than the baseplate itself having threads cut into it.

I had not noted anything on the forum about the change.

News to me, sorry I can't help.
I don't think I've had a Delco filter on my truck since its first oil change. Maybe one other.

I wonder it it's a generic base plate they're using and putting in different thread adapters for different engines?

I normally get the AC/Delco filters on sale at a local farm store called Rural King when they are on sale for 2/$7.00.

Over the summer... I havent seen them in the sale circular... so I just picked one up at WM with my Supertech synthetic... & noted the change in part #.

I get the feeling that with corporate mergers... all filters except the premium brands... may come down the same line in different batches... & I bet that you are correct about the base plate being a common part sourced overseas & fitted with the different dimension threaded fittings for various applications.

A bit of googling...
PF46:FILTER,OIL CLASSIC DESIGN
PF46E: FILTER,OIL DURAGUARD
Sounds like it's a 25 micron filter now, new core, new relief valve, and new anti-drainback And a "new" baseplate"

bobistheoilguy - I like this web site for all things to do with oil/lubrication

Hey... thanks for taking the time to research... I had not had the time yet this evening.

Like I have posted before... the guys on this forum are a very talented & helpful bunch. And the only thing bringing us together... of all things... a pickup truck.

Thanks Jim... I hope I can point you in the right direction some day,

I use pf 46 which I get from my job since we have a fleet of chevy vans that use the same filter I do so I get freebies and there are two different gm part #'s one is 19210283 and 88984215the first is on the pressed part and the latter is on the molded part iether way they go on and do the job so don't worry, gm continues to change part #'s , I had called the dealer we get parts from for our vehicle and gave him the part # on my serpentine belt it was a gm # and he coulkd not crossrefernce it and or number unknown so go figure.
