how many miles do you have on your I5 engine

I own a 2006 Colorado with the I5 engine. I treat it gently and use Mobil1 synthetic.

Just trying to plan for the future by asking this question. How many miles are some of you getting on this engine. I drive lightly with hopes of achieving over 200,000 miles on the engine.

Any of you guys have more than 200,000. I would love to keep this post going for awhile to see you guys who hit 200,000 plus miles. I want to know what problems to expect.

I'm at 84,000 but I think there are a few members on here with over 100,000. So far no problems with mine, no synthetic and I'm not to easy on it. They are mostly highway miles though.

2006, Just rolled over 40K.

Pennzoil conventional, Easy driving.

Only thing I've done was cleaned the throttlebody due to the idle being a little rough and hesitation. Cleared right up.

Re: how many miles do you have on your I5 engine

132K on my '04.

Dyno oil every 5K(ish) miles, changed the plugs at about 80K (even though they still looked fine) and clean the K&N every now and then.

I don't baby it, I drive pretty hard, and have been known to drive across the state with multiple motorcycles in the bed a few times a year for the last couple years. About a year ago I added approximately a 7" lift and 31" tires.

Still runs great :D

Re: how many miles do you have on your I5 engine

I have a 2005 with 115K hard driven miles on Mobil 1. My truck regularly sees WOT. I haul over 600 lbs in the bed at ALL times. I work out of my truck. I have taken it numerous times over 100 mph with the top reading being 129 mph. I do a lot of stop-and-go traffic. I do keep it well maintained on a regular schedule.

Here is another similar thread that kind of died back in 2008: viewtopic.php?t=26781

Re: how many miles do you have on your I5 engine

this is a venders truck that frequents the shop. bought new in 2004 Z71 package CC I5/auto. He's had no major issues. engine/transmission and drivetrain have not been touched. normal maintance, oil changes every 5k miles using dino, trans/rear axle every 50k, 2 sets of spark plugs, radiator flushed twice, rotors, drums, pads/shoes, tires, shocks,re-upholstered the driver's seat twice. he's an older guy and drives conservative, i'm sure that's a big plus. he's hoping to get 300k out of it before trading it in...
btw, check out his temperature gauge, can you tell it's a 2004? lol...crazy low temps. he says it never gets above the 1/4 mark.

Re: how many miles do you have on your I5 engine

I'd be ecstatic to get 200K out of mine. I look at 40,800-ish and frown like my truck is slowly wearing out..

My dually has 187K-ish on it when I traded it in, and it ran and drove like a brand new one. Course, I usually spent the weekends wiping it with a diaper and humming to it too.. :D

same here. the longest i've held on to a truck was for 188k before trading it in...definitely would like to see 200+k on the odometer

Well, today I made an unpleasant discovery.. I don't have the I5.. I have the I4.. I thought something was funky when Meineke told me my truck held 5 qts when they done my oil change. Today I pulled the sticker that came on the window which the previous owner greatfully left for me and it states my truck has the I4.

You bought your truck under the impression it was a 5 cylinder?

Where did you buy your truck?

Re: how many miles do you have on your I5 engine

Yes, I did, but I didn't look that closely at the actual engine bay. I spent more time under the truck than I did looking at the engine. At the time I bought the truck, I didn't even know that an I5 existed. I figured it was a V6 considering it's 4WD.

But, the other day I was looking to see if I had the optional G80 locker, and noticed the engine was listed as the I4 on the little paper with the MPG and options and stuff on it. My truck has a lot of options I didn't know about! Like tow hooks on the front, fender flares, and the locker. I knew the tow hooks were there, and the flares, but I never thought about the locker.

I guess that answers my question as to why I can't powerbrake.. :D

At the time of purchase, I really didn't know. I never even knew an I5 existed. Salesman never told me, I guess because I didn't ask. I was too busy asking other stuff like if he had service records, and what the previous owner was like.

I have the I5 in a 2007. So far I am at about 80,000KM. No real mechanical problems at all.

Re: how many miles do you have on your I5 engine

109,000 on my 2004 ZQ8 I-5.....and let's see.....

oil changed about every 7,000-8,000 miles with......*gasp* REGULAR oil......OMGOHNOEZ!!!!!!

didn't touch ANYTHING till it hit 100,000, then I felt I should reward her with new plugs, injector and TB cleaning, tranny flush and fill, rear end flush and fill, and a fuel filter. Was gonna flush and fill the coolant, but it still looked good.

I wouldn't consider myself a hard driver though. I don't really beat on it that often, and mostly all my driving has been highway over the years. Trucks a champ though! Still on the original breaks and battery!
