Default I-5 motor knocking

I am not sure if the knocking in my motor is from the valves? It knocks when it is cold or warm. I am not sure what to look for if you have any ideas or suggestions it would be great. It is an 2006 I-5 crew cab Z71 with a stock motor with about 62,000 miles on it.

Check your oil for starters if you haven't done it already. Did it just start doing this or has it been getting worse over time??

Check the motor mounts. Another truck owner thought the engine was knocking and it ended up being motor mounts. I would say also clean the MAF, TB, run power foam through and change the spark plugs.

Thanks for the advice. It sounds really bad when it is cold and at low rpms about 2000 or so. it sounds like it is in the lower end. My friend thought it was rod nock but as i get higher in the rpms the knocking goes away. The noise has become more noticable.

I do quite a bit of heavy towing and go to the desert and beach to off road it and am at full throttle quite a bit.
I did use a stethescope and it sound like it is in the motor for sure it is not that easy to pin point. I will check the motor mounts and see how they look. The knocking is in park and in gear at low rpms and goes away in higher rpms and at higher speeds

The fact that it's going away at higher RPMs makes me think valve train. If it were rod knock, it should get worse as the Rs go up. Just my .02

FWIW: I'm still not buying the argument that bad motor mounts will ake an engine knock.

Isn't there a GM recall for the heads and valves on a 3.5?
