What you are thinking about is not hard to accomplish as long as you have the almighty dollars to spend. Pistons can be custom made and so can rods be made to order. But you may want to consider the cost of trying to build that engine to do. It would not be practicable to spend money on a Atlas engine to make any serious horsepower unless you have tons to spend. Buy yourself a LS1orLS2 engine and install that and be done with it. You will be able to smoke all the tires you want.

well if i did that i would also have to find a new manual trans tcase and have new drive lines built
the reason i wanted to find performance internals is that i have another I4 that i already blew up so i wanted to rebuild with plans to put a turbo or super charger on it. if i wanted to do it really easy i would call Spalding Auto parts out of Spokane Wa and see if the have an 09 or so colorado with a 5.3L and i would take all of the parts and put it into mine but that route is not cheep either cus it involves all new stuff aswell
