holster mount

Anybody tried making a mount for the inside of the console that a Fobus style hard holster will attach to?
I have been carrying my G30 in the bottom of various consoles for years and would like something that is a little more immediately accessible. I like the mount on the exterior of the console, but looking for something more concealed to keep wandering eyes off what might be in the truck. Broken windows are expensive.

I bet the IWI Tavor would fit under the rear seat of a crew cab....

Thin strip of Zytel, a heat gun and 4 screws. Bent it 90 degrees, 2 screws in the front and 2 in the back. Used a High Speed Gear mag holster. FDE Sig 2022 40 S&W, good gun and it will not break the bank if taken.

I am sure a Tavor would fit fine, I know an SBR does.
bcuzucant, Mickh557 and shilly like this.

Ordered 4-23-15, built 5-21-15, sitting in my driveway 6-8-15. Canyon SLE, crew cab, long bed, 2wd, Bronze Alloy, Cocoa Dune.
Roll N Lock bed cover and cargo manager, custom made tool tray, OEM mud flaps, front windows tinted, running boards, 300 Watt Inverter with Sierra OEM plug, Warning Lights for fire dept, 6K HIDs lows and highs, LED fog light bulbs, 30" LED light bar, 2.5" front lift with 1" rear, Michelin AT/2 265/70/17, custom sports bar with 2 LED light bars, Rigid cargo lights.

Nice!
That is just what I was thinking, and I think I have a piece of black plastic that will work.

I've got to come up with a good solution for my Colorado. Thinking about mounting a holster behind the seat back carry-all/organizer on the passenger seat. Pretty slick draw from there. The center console is just too slow and obvious.

One thing you cannot do legally in Pennsylvania unless you are an on-duty Law Enforcement Officer- carry a loaded long gun in any vehicle. Little know fact, pellet, BB and Paintball guns are also illegal to have loaded/ready in a vehicle.

Steamloco76,

That would definitely be a smoother draw, but I have not found a seat organizer I like yet.
If you have one that looks good - please reply with a link.
Trying to balance accessibility and concealability....

Ive had a Texas Custom holster in my Subaru for the last 5 years. It's been amazing. Puts the pistol right at my right knee, perfect reaching distance without being noticeable to anyone looking in the windows.

I don't have any pics of my install at the moment, but trust me, it's worth it. So much cleaner and more accessible than a in-center-console mount.

Check out the crossbreed holsters ram mount. I used the flat surface mount & mounted it under the steering column with a left hand holster. Which is perfect for a right hand draw in that position.

Crossbreed makes some great holsters, all my EDC pistols have Crossbreed Supertucks to go with them!

In Texas had to do console because it must be concealed in a car.

MN Law in case someone was curious: http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/hrd...ssfiretrns.pdf

Quote:
Exception for Handguns with Permit to Carry:
The law provides an exception for a handgun being carried under the terms of a
valid permit to carry (i.e., in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 624.714).
A person with a valid permit to carry a pistol may transport one or more pistols in a
motor vehicle whether as a driver or a passenger, irrespective of whether the
handgun is cased or uncased, is loaded or unloaded, or is concealed or being
carried openly, and whether it is kept on the person or elsewhere in the vehicle, and whether the person is inside or outside the vehicle. When the handgun is left
stored in any condition within a vehicle, “constructive possession” applies.

Got around to taking some pics of my Texas Custom holster in my Subaru. Just took it out tonight because I'm trading the Outback for the Colorado tomorrow morning!

Excuse the fitment of my XDs, this holster was made for the original XD subcompact, and I just hadn't bought a new one when I switched up my EDC.

It's nice firm molded leather and has a hard plastic spacer with foam padding that you secure to the location you want to mount it. Stays open nicely for easy re-holstering. I'd recommend them for sure.

Wow according to media all you northern guys hate guns. Much less have one ready to use. Hmmm would the media be lying? Great ideas keep them coming, haven't found my perfect spot yet. Silverado was between seat and console, can't do that in the cc not enough gap there. MS our vehicle is an extension of our home, and legal to carry in any bag, briefcase, purse or backpack while away from vehicle.

WPG, there are a lot of anti-gunners here in CT, for sure. Worse in NY and Ma, for the most part. But there's plenty of us as well! Same here in CT, as long as you're a permit holder, car is an extension of home.

I also carry either the XDs.45, Taurus millennium 9mm or Glock 27 .40. I have pocket holsters for each or I carry appendix. On my holsters I put the smooth part of velcro. Industrial hold. And I put the plastic loop part on my console wherever it is convenient but also hidden as much as possible. Easy to detach and with the soft part of the velcro
o the holster can be comfortably wore IWB or carried pocket.
