Suspension Maxx Needs You! (Updated: 14 July w/New Pics)

Suspension Maxx http://www.suspensionmaxx.com is a Saginaw, Michigan based company that specializes in lift products for Chevy, Dodge, Ford, and Toyota trucks. I recently installed their torsion bar key kit on my Colly. I've also spent some time talking to the Suspension Maxx tech, Larry, with regards to more products for the Twins.

1. I told Larry when we raise the rear of our trucks with AALs or shackles, we resort to buying longer shocks. So would SM be interested in making 'shock extenders' at an affordable price to save members some money. He replied "Yes" and asked me to send him pics of the rear shock mounting so he could work on fabrication.

2. Next, I brought up the fact about how the members with 2WD coil spring front suspension resort to using Tacoma spacers to lift the front.
Would SM be willing to make a spacer specifically for us? Again the answer is "Yes". But Larry needs to know: A) does the Tacoma spacer sit on the coil spring or does it sit on the top strut mount? He has both spacer prototypes but would like to tailor the spacer to your desires.
B) is the Tacoma spacer a direct fit or are you guys having to do any kind of mods to it to make it work?
Any details you could give me would be great, to include pics.

Based on your input he will make the final design changes. Note: as mentioned earlier, SM is located in Saginaw, Michigan. Once he is ready for a test fit, Larry would like for a member in the general area to bring their 2WD coil spring Canyon/Colly in for the install. If interested, let me know and I will get you in contact with Larry.

Lastly, he said he will give a 10% discount to any member who is in the U.S. military. I'm going to ask him to extend the discount to those of you who give your time to public service, i.e.: EMT, firefighter, law enforcement.

Re: Suspension Maxx needs your help!

I assume he'd be looking for a stock truck to test the products rather than someone who already has a lift, correct?

Re: Suspension Maxx needs your help!

A stock truck would be ideal. As far as a lifted truck, it would depend on the front lift. If the upper strut mount wasn't modified in any way. Rear shock mount shouldn't be any different regardless.

Re: Suspension Maxx needs your help!

The 2-2.5 tacoma spacers go on top of the coil-over assembly. they are not spring distance spacers.

The problem is, members that use the spacer have to cut a very small notch out of the bump-stop mount for the coil-over to fit right.

Belltech makes a 1" spring "distance" spacer.

A combination of the above would be better for a production Kit

If i were Suspension Maxx i would make a 1" tacoma spacer and also include a 1" spring distance spacer. That way you are only moving the coil-over down 0.60" thus not needing to cut anything. So 2" could be easily made with easy bolt ons. They could then include some shims for the ball-joints maybe, and a bump-stop spacer.

Re: Suspension Maxx needs your help!

Thanks for the info, zuschke. :D I think Larry could easily fabricate a notch in the strut spacer to accomodate the bump stop mount.
Then a member wouldn't need to mess with the spring itself. But I will pass all the comments on to him.

its actually a notch in the bump stop mount on the frame(near the bottom of the shock mount). So a 2" strut spacer by itself would require this. But a 1" strut spacer and a 1" spring spacer would not.

Re: Suspension Maxx needs your help! (Update)

Thanks to zushke and others for their input. :D Suspension Maxx is going to make a kit with a spacer for the strut assembly and a spacer for the spring. Will allow for 2" of lift without having to modify the bumpstop mount.

Re: Suspension Maxx needs your help! (We Have a Volunteer!)

bobandcar has volunteered to install Suspension Maxx's prototype kit for the coil spring suspension. Hopefully he will post up pics of the install. Suspension Maxx plans to use his critique of the kit and install to make any necessary design changes.

Thanks Robert! :D
