Default Skyjacker 4" Lift Wheel/Tire Question

2010 Z71 Rado 4x4

Ok so I've been doing a ton of research on here the past couple of days and i'm looking for a little help. I'm having issue with understanding the backspacing of the wheel set up I'd like to get.

From what I understand with the Skyjacker kit you can go up to a 4.75 in backspacing? Is that correct? I guess what's throwing me in the negative offset numbers versus the inches.

The wheels I'm looking at getting are here and they come in a -6 offset. Which if I'm correct would not work right? Any limitations on width of the wheel itself?

Also curious as to how wide of a tire I could fit while avoiding any rubbing issues.

Thank you guys!

Offset is directly based on the size of the wheel. Backspacing is measured from the inside of the wheel.

A 4.75" backspaced wheel is always going to be the same. The offset starts at the center of a wheel. So a -6 on an 8" wheel is different than a -6 on a 10" wheel.

If they wheels you are looking at specify the backspace, just use that number.

The Skyjacker site should list what tire size fits. Probably a 265 width tire which is 10.4". Or find an inch tire that is 10.5. Skyjacker knows what fits, go by their recommendation.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the help. One last question. I know thanks to this website that doing a TB crank brings the tires in closer to the vehicle. Would an approx 2" crank on top of the 4" skyjacker lift affect the width of the tire that would fit? I.e. would I need a smaller tire in terms of width with the crank?

Thanks again!

I personally can't say for sure, but I don't believe it would. The wheel specification is mostly due to clearing the spindle and that should not be affected. The manufacturer will also list a tire size that won't rub on parts. If you as a user are okay with rubbing at lock you can run what you want. I run 265's no problem with TB crank. Running a suspension lift would not alter that (I believe).
