Seeing as most people (probably a small percentage or more) of this site drag races their GMT-355's, I thought it would be a nice idea that there should be a thread for people to post their 1/4 mile, or 1/8 mile times. Also, a list of what modifications they have, what kind of "prep" they did to their vehicle, and what modifications worked (or did not work).

So, here is the infomation that is to be posted:

- What you pickup is (Cab config., 2WD or 4WD, Transmission, Rear End gearing).
- How much it weighed in (if you can, if not, that is ok).
- What modifications you had (or if your 355 is stock).
- How did you prep. your 355 (just lower the air presure in some tires, removed the spare tire, etc).
- The Times (R/T, 60ft, 330ft, 1/8th mile time, 1/8th mile mph, 1000ft time, 1/4th mile time, and 1/8th mile mph; Also, the temp. outside, and track temp. if you cant get that, that is ok).
- Picture of timeslip and GMT-355 (if you cant, then that is ok).
- A thought on you times (what you think you could have improved, what modifications worked or did not work, etc..).

I think this is a good idea! A database for us interested in 1/8 and 1/4 mile racing. I would like to go ahead and post the information you requested, and when I do make my runs, I will post my times, along with a pic of the timeslip and my Canyon. So here goes!

Flowmaster 50 Delta Flow muffler. PCMForLess tune.

Pre-race preps: 35psi front tire pressure/30 rear

Times: 1/4 mile - 15.80 @ 86.87mph

Regular Cab Z85 I5 5spd
no idea on weight but i also have a 100lb + system in it
Lowered 3/4 (doesnt really make a dif) and Borla Turbo muffler dumped
No prep

first time to the drags, so dont make fun of my times lol

R/T____.889____1.169
60'____2.496___2.568
330____7.077___7.081
1/8____10.686__10.719
MPH___68.14___67.37
1000___13.83___13.88
1/4____16.481___16.539
MPH___85.46___85.26

My times sucked bad, needed to take out my system, and launch higher RPM. Cooler temps woulda been better too

Here's a bit of info that members can use to determine their weight-at-run time:

All of our trucks have 19 gallon fuel tanks.
Gasoline weighs approximately 6 lbs per gallon.

If you've got a full tank of gas at run-time, your toting around 114 extra lbs. However, some of that weight could possibly help traction at launch, so some experimenting may be helpful here!

I weighed-in my ZQ8 Crew Cab at work...we've got State Calibrated scales, and with a full tank and me inside..came in at exactly 4000lbs.
Minus my weight, and 114lbs for fuel, my corrected vehicle weight is actually 3711lbs!

Oh....and here's that neat HP Calculator again:

I went out and found an asphalt road, early morning in fact...to practice a few launches. Funny thing is, at 2:00 in the morning, a late model Z28 and Trans Am were preparing for a scrap!

I basically came "out of the hole" at idle, and felt no rear-wheel hop at all. Next launch, I pre-loaded the automatic (foot on brake, and accelerator) and launched around 1000 rpm. Mind you, this isn't really good on the tranny, but I only did it a couple times. A line lock would be more appropriate for us "slush-box" guys!

Practice that a few times, and get the feel of your truck under these various styles, and you should have an idea where and how your truck best launches.

I guess no one else cares to post. Ohh well.
what do you mean? not everyone is on here all the time, nor does everyone run their trucks...
Like I said "ohh well." hey crash I guess I will have to fix my windshield also. I have a few stars I don't know if those will count.

from the way you said it, and it reads to most... it sounds like you think everyone on here runs their trucks and that no one wants to post their times... lol

I have never run my truck at firebird, I have run there before, but not my truck. I think that they are a little more by the book at firebird. I think that speedworld lets little things by as long as it is not a big safty issue. That could be why some times you have to wait such a long time to make a run when there is a leak or some thing on the track. We should plan a track day!

well, took my truck to the track tonight. New england dragways in New hampshire. it was nice, about 61* and clear skys. took the air pressure down to about 30psi, had about 3/4 tank of gas.
i've got an xcab zq8 i5 auto
Volant intake, Dynomax muffler, Efan, Trans cooler, Jet servo, HPtuners, Caltracs traction bars.

ran twice, with a best of 15.921 @ 85.13 (15.993 @ 85.95 1st run). it was my first time to the track ever, so i had some bad reaction times (.771 1st and .970 2nd).

i was really hoping for a 15.5 or better, but im glad that at the least i was in the 15's. i need some more power though, i would really like to be faster. i think had i done a 2k rpm launch i would have done better. the second run i did from "3" then shifted to "d" i was going to try the 2k launch but didnt have time (i was kinda rushed because i was the last race of the night and they wanted to get out of there)

I had tryed to do the whole launch at a higher rpm thing and it did not help at all. Try it with your truck and see if it helps you at all.
