Just received the kit for the 3.7 from Volant, it has no mounting hole in the air box for the hose from the fan behind radiator! Can I cut my own hole in the air box of the Volant and connect this line. Thought I saw a thread on this, can't find info! Also came with there new Powercore filter!

I bought a used aem, and cut my own hole in the heat sheild, and used the oem cone filter.

Made a template from the oem box
Image

template
Image

then duplicated that into the heat sheild. even adding the locking tab holes.
Image

added on o-ring to make the fit a little snugger.
Image

I think you could do the same with the volant.

First, the Volant is for a 2007, it has the tube for the new MAF sensor.

Second, I'll be doing the cutout like you have done! :)

Thanks!

I just talked with daniel the tech at volant, and he just told me the other day that they dont make an intake for the 07 3.7L I5. I supposedly bought the first intake from volant for the 3.7L but they kept sending the wrong tubing (2.9L) in the end they said it wont be mae until the end of this month. PLEASE let me know if im wrong!!! Ive gone round and round with those idiots, they owe me an intake system still. Ive heard that they are selling the tubing from the 3.5L for the 3.7L all you need is the adapter plate from the wolf. I have the volant box and volant ram air piece with the pvc cnduit piping with the wolf adapter plate. I would assume the piping would be slighty larger and may or may not have the resonator box on the piping. hmmm get back to me asap and post some pics if posssible!!

Pimpdaddy, post some pics of your application and does your intake have an adapter plate or does it mount properly with your MAF sensor?

Well, Good news and BAD! Tried to install the CAI Kit I mention above and it does not line up. Called Daniel @ Volant and the kit is for a 2007 Canyon and Colorado with the 3.7 Liter engine however only if it is a California emiisions vehicle. Dan said they could not get a truck with the 48 state motor, they are working will local GM dealers now and hope to have this kit out this summer. So hopefully I get a RGA number from Auto Anything and I send it back.

that sounds bs to me. What emmisions are they talking about? the 06 volant i put on Jokers truck would work fine an an 07. You might not be able to run the ram snorkel, because of the air pump. and you would need a plate for the maf. But i know it would work. Just my .02

the wolf is right, mine didnt line up properly either as i stated above. My truck is an 07 too. If you want the snorkel to work you have to relocate it. I made an L shaped bracket and remounted it off the valve cover to the left using the original mounting plate. the wires stretch over there just fine, no cutting! I could post pics but dont know how to upload them on here.

you have to use a photo hosting site then upload to it, then load from it to here. I use photobucket, its free and pretty easy.

Finally Joker shows, up. late to the party as always, lol. I hope you like it. I like mine. It gives it a little boost, especially when its cold out. I've noticed that since its been warmer it hasn't been so dramatic. The gas mileage is better too, again the cold weather helped that. All in all it's pretty cool. I'm thinking about getting a piece of plexi glass to replace the lid, just for some added style, lol.

I'm pretty sure the tube is a 3in tube.

Heres where we hid the scoop.

Heres the cutting on the skid.

Here are some pics from underneath.

One huge bit of advice I can give is to be sure that, the filter is shoved to the outside of the box and then put the clamp on. Otherwise it'll rattle like a mother. I learned the hard way. Although it sounded a LOT louder like that, but when your idling at a stop light you'll wanna pull your hair out.
Image

On and The Wolf! do you think it would be a good idea to drill a small hole in the scoop? Because of the way it sits (higher in the front) when I wash it water puddles in the scoop, now it usually all falls out as soon as I drive but just for security. Plus theres also a "drain" in the actual box, that should let all the water out.

yeah a small drain hole(1/8") in the lowest corner should work fine. Better late then never homie. what kind of gains on the mpg's?

yeah I have a 3.5. To get the skid plate out, just unbolt it and I think you have to kinda pull it hard out of the bumper. pretty easy.

One thing about the Volant CAI kit that I got and did not work, it does not use a resonator box, the ram tube went straight from the filter box to the throttle body, had the 2007 MAF sensor cutout, the angle of the ram tube just did not line up, even had a pipe nipple to put the hose from the vavle cover to the ram tube.

ya mine didnt line up either, thats why i cut mine in two different place to get the right depth, and rotation needed to get it set up properly. I just used rubber cupplings with hose clamps. worked great.

Ive heard that the 3.5 will work on the 3.7L with an adapter plate from the wolf. Volants tech daneil said that the piping will "probably" be different for the 3.7L. Meaning that they are unsure if they are going to use a resonator box or not. He said which every one makes the most power is the one they will put into production. Im assuming if the truck "stock" has a resonator box then they will probably get the best results with the resonator box in place on the new setup. Anyone else have any other feedback, or E.T.A.'s?

I just got my Volant yesterday. It is for the 2007 3.7. It doesn't have the hole in the front for the emissions hose so I'll probably dremel it so I can attach it. The tube doesn't have the resonator on it either. I wonder if this is the way they decided to go?
