Hello everyone, newbie to this forum and to the colorado/canyon. I am planning on doing the 2" torsion bar key and shackle lift on my canyon. Do I need to get a torsion bar unloading tool?

Yes you do, but unless it's the suspension maxx keys don't buy them and just crank the torsion bar adjuster bolts, it's super easy.

No. Loosen till there is no tension, replace the keys and re-tension. Measure wheel wells and adjust for the same height. Bounce the truck some. Recheck and readjust. Drive the truck a little and recheck and adjust. You will need an alignment after though.

b4 you do anything with the torsion bars, lift the front suspension by the frame so the control arms hang with no weight on them.

So if I unload the suspension and loosen the torsion key bolts there won't be enough tension left to hurt anyone?

you could also just use a c-clamp to do it too

Be VERY careful if you try to use a C-clamp

I saw on Extreme 4x4 this weekend, he took a C-clamp and cut the pad off the end. It leaves you with the swivel ball which fits nicely into the groove in the torsion key. looked like a pretty slick way of doing it.

I use a ball joint press myself, alot stronger than a hardware store c clamp
