i can work on engines all day long and not have many questions, but i know very little about suspensions. i know most of the main components but after reading many topics and posts im still left with questions.

i have an 04 z85 and want to do a 2/3 drop. im lookin to put 18's or 20's on it and want to stay around a 45-50 series tire. ive seen all sorts of kits for this but each is different. obviously i need springs and from what i understand i dont need shocks but it is advisable. now is this front or front and rear? also do i need drop spindles? i keep hearing about these blocks for the rear, but i havent seen any pics of them nor do i understand how they work or where they go. any info would be greatly appreciated. i read the write up on lowering but im still not gettin it.

You can do a quick search for lowering, but here is a quick rundown.

For the front you can either get lower springs to replace yours, drop spindles (usually dont need these unless you want to REALLY drop your truck), or you can do what I do and get some Beltech Drop Lower Ball joints. These use the stock springs, and just relocate the lower ball joint to lower the front end.

For the back, the easiest is blocks (what Most people use), shackles, or if you really want to, replace the leaf springs.

I have a 2-2 Ball-joint/Block Drop and I run 20" wheels with a 45 sidewall and I dont have any rubbing problems at all.

Hope this helps some!

They go between your axle and leaf springs. On these trucks the rear suspension setup is spring under axle, so blocks lower instead of lifting like on bigger trucks.

correct. bigger the block, the more drop. you also DO NOT have to replace rear shock. the shock hanger stays in the same place, only the axle moves up.

springs, or bjs up front and your golden.

i get that belltec is a big name around here & im sure its due to quality, but has anyone used this? if so whats your opinion of it.

i have a question into the seller cause the way im reading this is that the shocks are for the rear. everything ive gathered from here says the shocks are needed for the front. also is there anywhere cheaper to get the belltec balljoint? $375+shipping seems a bit much to me.

I have the ball-joint drop and i think that the ride is good... maybe better than drop springs... but I would have to drive a colly with drop springs to really see the difference...
