Hi guys,I've looked under the hood and searched the site and can't seem to find this anyway, does anyone know where this thing is on our trucks and if so could you please tell me so I dont have to take apart half the engine bay to find it...lol. I work on cars all the time but it's usually the older ones and they only have a few sensors so it makes it a lot easier...lol. Oh yeah, the truck is auto, other info is in my sig. Thanks in advance, this is really irritating...lol.

In the intake tube directly off the intake air box.

The MAP sensor and MAF sensor are completely different. The MAF sensor is in the intake tube, the MAP sensor is on the top of the intake, at the rear.

F**K! You are absolutely correct. I did read MAF sensor. Here are 2 pictures that may help you. This is off a 2005 3.5. Hope it helps.

yeah I found it, I figured it was somewhere on the intake system just never really looked a whole lot you know, well I got it changed and so far the trucks running better, go figure huh...lol See I was wondering about what you said and thought that was the MAF so I just went and bought the MAP sensor and looked around for one that looked like it...lol. I never noticed before yesterday being there but again I was never looking at the sensors either really.

I know this is an old thread, but it works for me.
I went for inpsection yesterday and the engine light was on (I started a thread on that a while back). Seems the MAP sensor was the issue. The dealership is real good to me, so they 'reset' the code and told me if it didn't come back on by Monday, I was OK to pass inspection.
It came back on two hours later. Oh well, at least I know what to replace. The local Pep Boys wants $58 for it, sound reasonable?
The real question is: will the light reset itself with the new sensor installed, or do I need to reset something? I'd like to drive it in Monday like they fixed the problem and get my inspection sticker.
Thanks,
Dave

The CEL should reset itself.

How long do you think it'll take to reset?
I replaced the MAP Sensor and drovve it around about 2 miles - still on.

Do I disconect the battery?

Thanks,
Dave

It'll usually take at least 20 minutes of continuous driving for a CEL to reset on it's own. You can reset it by disconnecting the battery. But if the issue isn't resolved, it will come back on eventually.

OK, I've got about 22 miles on it since installing the new MAP sensor and the light's still on!
I'm starting to think it wasn't the MAP sensor. At least I didn't pay their labor to install it, but now need to find real issue.
Should I disconnect the battery, and if so, how long, and will that mess up my radio?

Dave

I had the dealership reset the light.
We're all good now.
Just waiting for inspection...

Argh...
I had an appointment for inspection this morning, so what happens last night on the ride home from work? You got it, the light comes back on.
The light this time was for 'slow idle', which makes sense, as the idle's been a bit bouncy in our single-digit weather.
Well, they reset it agina and we wait for Monday. Of course, now I'm driving with an expired inspection sticker.

Happy New Year.
