So for about two days now as I’m driving I’ve noticed the transmission switching gears rough shifting through gears as if it doesn’t want to go to the next just hanging there til I let off the gas. getting On the highway it does the same as if it doesn’t know which gear to use. Any info? I really don’t want to go in if I don’t have to.

There are definitely a few issues with both the 6 speeds and 8 speed trannies. Some require a computer flash, some require a torque converter swap. Unfortunately, it does require a trip to the dealer but on a good note, anyone thats had the fixes, for the majority, it came back better than new.

Yup - good advice. I had the TC replaced (21k miles) for the 'rumble strips' on my 2017 z71. After about 500 miles (no rumble) I have the shift up/down thing. I find it takes some warm up to happen, maybe xmission temp >100 deg, which takes some miles with our weather now. But, it's easy to recreate. My dealer was reasonable with the TC change. My plan is to request a ride-along with the xmission tech for a show & tell. I don't want anyone saying, 'seems fine to us'. If you have an OBD tool or Picoscope, it would be good to know if messages pop up when the truck gets into that mode.

My 2018 Z71 is having some occasional shifting irregularities at 4,500 miles...Have not been able to recreate them yet. Seems to be having issues with gears 1-3. Scenario #1 - pressing the gas during a low speed rolling stop. Truck jerks, like it can't decide on gear 1 or 2. Scenario #2 - driving up a slight long grade truck stays in 3rd gear until I adjust the gas. Thoughts anyone??

Well I went to the dealer two weeks ago to get oil changed and tire rotation and mentioned the issues and the service guy said there isn’t anything out to adjust the trans for the new trucks. I mentioned that other people have had the computer reset or a new mapping or whatever it’s called put on and he said he had nothing

Not sure where you went but, I suggest you try Paramus Chevy. They definitely know about the Colorado trans issues,on both the 6 and the 8 speeds. I dont pass recommendations along but, my recent (2 weeks ago) visit has me convinced they will do you right. :wink2:

Being that it is November... was the transmission still cold when doing this?

If so, I will say that my old 00' Silverado, 05' Colorado, and current 18' Colorado did/do this when the transmission is really cold.

I read up on it when it first started happening on my old Silverado. Basically it is there to protect the transmission somehow or warm it up faster. I can't remember which.

Both of those trucks had way over 200k on the odo when I sold them. They were still running/shifting just fine after that many miles with a little towing here and there. I just changed the fluid every 50k miles and did a filter/fluid change every 100k miles or so... depending on what the fluid looked like. Changing the fluid only replaces about half of the fluid on them.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that mine does it when it's super cold and I just got on the road in the mornings.
