Did a search for these Falken tires and found this thread. Thanks! I bought a 2015 Brownstone LT extended cab 4X4 almost exactly two years ago today. I did a few changes but waiting on the rest until I need new tires. I will need a set before winter and know it is early but have been searching while waiting for spring here in Iowa. I wanted something a little more aggressive for the fields but also good on highway going to town and such. I was looking at these Falken tires in 255/70/17. Discount tire told me about them.

Because level kits and lifts are mentioned I am going to add the following. I am surprised at the different rake dimensions I have seen on four trucks. Since I bought mine three other trucks were bought from family and a friend. My front/back difference is only 3/4". My father-in-law has same truck and his is 1-1/16". My nephew has crew cab Z71 and his is almost two inches. The other truck is a LT crew cab and his is 1-5/8". All of us have different dimensions from driver to passenger with driver side lower? I assume crew cabs make a difference. All of us were close on the back height. Anyway, I showed Discount tire my truck when I dropped my wife off after a tire was fixed on her ride and they said the 255/70/17 would fit without any level kit or lift after some measuring with stock tire clearance. I hope they are right. I am going to set it in advance that we can check and confirm before I leave. If they will not do it I will check with local company that specializes on lifting and 4x4 accessories or Tire Rack. I do have black plastic GM splash guards and black GM wheel well fender protectors.

I will haul some stuff and pull fishing and hunting boat and small utility trailer quite a bit with this. Heavy work is done with 3/4 ton farm truck.

THANKS AGAIN!!
I'm gonna do the same size a 255/70-17 I plan on atleast do 1" but may do the leveling shocks at 1.4". Let us know if they fit with no lift

Just got mine on today! 255/70/17 with Eibach leveling shocks at 2". Haven't had the chance to really try them out too much yet. Other than driving around in the rain. Am I crazy or are these quieter than the stock tires? I swear there's less hum at around 35 to 50 mph. Just feels like a smoother ride over all. Definitely happy with the purchase and can't wait to get em out into the dirt. Next up is rims . Just waiting for the tax return.
This looks sweet. And like I just said in the last reply this is the size tire I want

I'm glad so many people found my thread helpful! I've got 10k on the tires now and still look brand new. Been blowing through the Maine snowy winter without issues.

I've run Cooper Discoverer AT3's and General Grabber AT2's on my old truck ('07 CC 2wd Z71)

I had approx 45-50k on the Coopers with plenty of tread left when I traded the truck. Had some uneven wear on one tire that was caused by a bad wheel bearing.

The Generals I had before the Coopers, had over 80k on them and wasn't quite to the tread bars.

I would rotate and balance the tires every oil change @ 3k which depending on my work assignment at the time would mean every 2-6 weeks. Yes driving from Montgomery AL out to Ward or Butler (near MS state line) and back I could easily rack up 300 miles in a day.

With Falken AT3w tread pattern and blocky build with it rub with A RC 2in leveling kit at 265/70/17 with z71 wheels? Also is added a wheel spacer 1.25 or 1.5 would there be any rubbing? Thanks for the help. I have search but have not gotten any info about it with these tires. Thank you.

I wouldn't think so. I am running a 285/70/17 Falken ATW3. I only have rubbing at full lock. You may have to do some very minor trimming but that's all.

Just out of curiosity...does anyone have any idea how the fuel economy of these vs. stock tires works out?

If you're going stock size to stock size id imagine maybe 1 mpg at the most as these are not mpg tires. I don't think anyone has really gotten these tires to match the stock, usually gone up a size or two so I doubt you'll get any scientific data.

Installed the new Falken shoes yesterday. Wow, I love the look with the bigger size. I have the RC 2" leveling kit and went with the P265/70/17 tires. Only slight rub at full turn on the bottom of the carpet on the wheel well. I still have the stock Z71 wheels. Drove to work this morning and really liked the way the new Falken's felt. :smile2: Truck looks much beefier with the bigger size stuffed in the wheel well.

I bought a set of the Falkens back in 2012 (IIRC). I came across 'em on America's Tire's website, and was attracted to their(then) 'cheaper' price and [somewhat] aggressive tread pattern, so I picked up a set.
I remember them seemingly wearing well, but their off-road grip was noticeably lower than the BFG(AT)'s and Nitto Terra G's I had been running previously-at least on the terrain we have here in SoCal: Hard-pack/blue-groove, loose-over-hard etc. I don't think I ever got to try 'em in muddy and/or loamy conditions.

Yeah, the old AT2's were an ok tire for the price.

For off road use, they were not as good as the BFG K0's or Nitto's.

Falken did a lot more R & D with the AT3's and it's a completely different tire than the AT2's.

Question to you guys, on a stock Diesel with a 2in level kit and 1.5in wheel spacers, can I fit 265/70/18 with little rubbing, or is this too large of a tire.

Ok so what load rating are y'all going with on these? The E or the lesser? $20 price difference in 285/70r17
